The Truth of Jesus: More Than Just a Claim

I used to think there was no such thing as absolute truth. But then, I took a closer look at who Jesus claimed to be. In one of the most powerful statements in Scripture, He says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

Have you ever considered the weight of these words?

The Way: The Only Path

When Jesus declares that He is the way, He’s making an exclusive claim: there is no other road, no alternate belief system, that leads to God. There are no exceptions. Jesus is not just one path among many; He is the only way that is right and true.

The Truth: Jesus as the Absolute

By saying He is the truth, Jesus claims something profound: He is the standard against which everything is measured. Many try to dismiss Jesus by questioning His humanity, His life, or His teachings. Did He really live as described? Did He contradict Himself? Yet, they often overlook the principles He taught and the enduring relevance of His words. His teachings are woven into the fabric of society, with blessings or consequences tied to whether or not they are followed.

Some argue that God created evil, but this misunderstands the nature of good and evil. God did not create evil. If He had, He could not promise a heaven free from it. Humanity created evil when we separated ourselves from God. If separating from good creates evil, then separating from truth creates lies. By following wisdom not rooted in Christ, we follow half-truths or outright lies. Jesus, as the source of all existence, is the ultimate standard of truth.

When someone claims to be the truth, it implies that goodness and morality are inseparable from them. Jesus is the foundation of both—more than enough evidence of His power and existence, even beyond any physical proof.

Instinctive Knowledge of the True God

Who is the one true God? Deep down, we know. In our fallen state, our hearts are naturally resistant to Him. We instinctively resist the God we know holds us accountable. Yet, in the same breath, we find that this resistance points us to the truth of who He is.

The Life: Spiritual Fulfillment in Christ

When Jesus says He is the life, He’s revealing that true spiritual life exists only through Him. Without Jesus, we are spiritually lifeless, merely existing. Jesus is the reason for everything—without Him, nothing could exist. That’s why He says, “No one comes to the Father except through me.” Religion, good works, and moral effort cannot bring us into God’s presence—only Jesus can.

The Good News: A Gift of Grace

The good news is that we can come to the Father through Jesus. If we believe in Him, confess that He is Lord, and seek forgiveness for our sins, we are promised eternal life. We all have fallen short of God’s glory. But the most beautiful truth is that salvation is a gift we don’t have to earn. It’s freely given, an act of love and grace beyond words.

How amazing is that?

Will you consider giving your life to Christ today?
