Who among us has struggled with reconciling what Christ says about the gospel with our perceived “failed” efforts to lead others to Him? I know I have. Sometimes, we grow frustrated with ourselves, or even with God, when our heartfelt attempts to share the gospel seem to fall short. Have you ever felt disheartened by someone’s refusal to accept Christ?
I have experienced this frustration many times. I have questioned, “What is so hard about understanding this?” “Why do they continue to ignore the truth?” “Why would they choose to hurt themselves?”
It’s easy to begin doubting our own effectiveness or even the saving power of Jesus. We may start to feel disheartened when our attempts to share the gospel are met with rejection. The testimony of how God found us in our brokenness can seem overshadowed by our perceived failures.

We might convince ourselves that the issue lies with us: “Maybe I’m not conveying the message clearly,” or “Perhaps the Holy Spirit isn’t working through me.” We explore various reasons for the rejection but often overlook the fundamental truth that salvation is ultimately a matter of personal choice. (John 3:16-18; Revelation 3:20)
The reality is that we cannot force anyone to choose salvation. People reject Christ for a multitude of reasons they believe are valid. Our role is not to control their response but to remain faithful in our calling. (1 Corinthians 3:6-7)
So, how do we address these challenges and continue to make an impact in the midst of spiritual warfare? Here’s what Jesus calls us to do:
Pray for Those Who Do Not Know Him: Lift them up in prayer, asking God to soften their hearts and open their minds. (Luke 10:2; 1 Timothy 2:1-4)
Share His Word: Continue to spread the message of Christ, trusting in the power of the gospel to reach those who hear it. (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 1:16)
Live Out the Gospel: Ensure that our lives reflect the message of Christ so that the gospel is not put to shame by our actions. (1 Peter 2:12; Philippians 1:27)
Walk by Faith: Maintain your trust in God’s plan, even when results are not immediately visible. (2 Corinthians 5:7; Hebrews 11:1)
Put on the Full Armor of God: Equip yourself daily with faith, righteousness, and the Word of God to stand firm in spiritual battles. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
Reflect on these aspects and consider where you might need to strengthen your approach. What steps can you take to better align with Christ’s call in this spiritual journey?
